In the beginning…
Hey guys,
I felt compelled to start this blog as an under-the-table way of tracking the progress of the church plant. Why? One reason is that I am currently in another ministry position (a youth minister), where my youth group will not know my plans until late May due to a membership class we’ll be having next month (don’t want to discourage participation). The senior pastor and the board does know, however, and are very supportive! But needless to say, Facebook, MySpace, etc. is out of the question for any such “good news” on our progress.
And there has been progress, or what I might like to call “movement”! A first few bits of info:
1. We got approved for our assessment with the ARC (Association of Related Churches, a church planting organization for modern, non-denominational style churches) on June 1st and 2nd in Atlanta.
2. My wife Heather, a pharmacist, was able to get a transfer in July to the Hartsville Wal-Mart pharmacy with no problem at all… in fact she’s getting a raise!
3. Even though I’m having to keep the vision somewhat on the “down low” (ughh), more and more people are catching the vision for this kind of church in Hartsville.
4. We have officially made an offer on a building that will fit our “first phase” needs, right in the heart of Hartsville (cheesy, but still…)
That’s just some of it, but regardless things have been quickly coming together, which I believe is a result of God honoring our commitment to the vision He gave me months ago for this church.
So please, keep us in your prayers as we grow and get ready for our launch this fall!
Blessings,
Chris
PS. Read the post, “What is the vision?” if you are unfamiliar with this whole crazy idea…
Keep me posted on everything, maybe we can get down for a visit!!!
