Winding down in Georgetown
Today begins my last week here in Georgetown where I served as a youth minister the past two years. It has been a great time of ministry for me, and there have been many successes I can take pleasure knowing I had something to do with (even though the Lord was doing the heavy lifting!).
I’m fondly reminded of the many events, outings, trips, lock-ins, and the students themselves as I try and go through all the junk in my office. There’s plenty of it, so this may take a while. (I never claimed to be well-organized!)
Georgetown is a port city in between Myrtle Beach and Charleston off of highway 17. It’s a working class city that occasionally likes to think of itself as a tourist town. Though it has its fair share of challenges, you would not find any more genuine people than here.
Heather and I both will miss the friends and colleagues who supported us during our time here and we’ll be sure to visit and keep track of how everyone is doing. The modern advent of the internet makes this a little easier!
So while June 14th is my “last work day” here, it will never be my last day here, if that makes any sense.
Be blessed, Georgetown! We’ll be praying for y’all! I hope you will do the same for us as we make the transition to Hartsville!
